Labcys Kitchen: A Journey of Success and Empowerment

A business in the agribusiness sector, Labcys Kitchen has emerged as a leading example of entrepreneurial success and empowerment. As a proud beneficiary of the BRAVE Women Nigeria Project Batch A, Labcys Kitchen, a local restaurant, has not only flourished but has also become a beacon of hope for other aspiring women entrepreneurs.

Before discovering the BRAVE Women Nigeria Project, Labcys Kitchen faced numerous challenges that hindered their growth and profitability. One major obstacle was the lack of adequate cooking utensils and equipment to cater to outdoor events. This limitation significantly reduced their ability to take on lucrative catering projects, resulting in a loss of potential revenue to rentals.

Most of the profit we got from outdoor catering goes to paying for the rentals” in her words.

However, with the help of the BRAVE Women Nigeria Project, Labcys Kitchen received much-needed support through BCP training, Business clinics and hand-holding events all organized by the project which turned their fortunes around.

Labcys Kitchen accessed the 50% matching grant which they wasted no time in utilizing effectively. They invested in staff training programs to enhance their culinary skills and improve customer service. This move not only boosted the confidence and expertise of their employees but also elevated the overall quality of their offerings.

Labcys Kitchen also purchased essential equipment such as chafing dishes and additional cooking utensils. With these new assets, Labcys Kitchen was able to cater to a wide range of outdoor events and parties, expanding their service capabilities and attracting a broader customer base. Additionally, they seized the opportunity to generate additional income by renting out the newly acquired equipment and dishes, further bolstering their financial stability.

Recognizing the importance of technology in modern business operations, Labcys Kitchen made strategic investments in CCTV cameras, computer systems for efficient bookkeeping and record-keeping, and printers. These upgrades streamlined their administrative processes, resulting in improved efficiency and accuracy in managing their operations.

Moreover, Labcys Kitchen capitalized on the growing importance of online presence. hey utilized a portion of the grant to create an online presence, and social media profiles  @labcys_kitchen. This newfound digital presence allowed Labcys Kitchen to showcase their delectable menu offerings and engage with customers in an innovative way. As a result, Labcys Kitchen experienced a significant increase in their customer base, both through online orders and increased foot traffic at their physical location.

Never one to rest on their laurels, Labcys Kitchen embraced the grant’s spirit of innovation and diversified their menu offerings. They purchased a popcorn machine and added freshly made popcorn to their repertoire, attracting more customers and increasing their revenue streams.

With the invaluable support of the project, Labcys Kitchen overcame their initial challenges and blossomed into a thriving restaurant, contributing not only to their own financial independence but also to the empowerment of other women in their community.
